The brilliant thing about St. Vincent’s set was that Annie and her band altered all the songs to suit the mood of people standing around baking in the mid-afternoon sun. Some changes were more bold than others — never enough to fundamentally change the character of a song, but always enough to show you that the musicians were being thoughtful and creative within the boundaries of the compositions.
